Staying Special!
Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:11PM Well it's been a crazy and busy day and this week has been manic, especially as I just got back from a long trip where I crammed so much in that it seemed like I had been away longer... it's always the way. So today I headed out to see Bobby and Karen my hairdressers to find that they had been talking about me yesterday... hmmm... they had a plan!
I sat in the chair, chatting away to a friend on the phone, expecting Karen to come up and mouth to me, 'same as before' and I would nod and that would be it, I could finish my conversation... but No... Bobby and Karen together walked towards me looking very serious... Uh oh! What have they planned.
So I cut my conversation off and focused on what they were saying... color this, cut that... etc etc etc... OMG they had a plan... I was a little nervous because when it comes to my hair, I'm a funny bugger as they say, but as usual I placed myself in their capable hands.
Chatting happily away to Karen, who is English and wonderful, and we have many similar beliefs, so we get along great... suddenly I had this head full of foils and I was being left to bake.
Time was up... WOW love it... different colors and then she is starting to talk about when it gets longer we will add blues and pinks etc etc... OMG...
Next Bobby... ah the delightful and charming and gorgeous Bobby. Love this guy... snip snip snip...
I didn't recognize myself when I left, it was bizarre! Funky, fun and sexy new hair do!!! Love it. Yes I will get pictures up... I love it a little longer too, which is fab... it's too long to spike now, but I can do so much more with it.
Sometimes we all need to change how we look... I know women do, it's important and we have to feel good about ourselves because if we don't well... we get it a rut. I know I do... sometimes it's time to shimmy things up and spoil ourselves, even if it's a new hair do, or a lipstick, or a different necklace to what you have been wearing for 15 years. As they say a change is as good as a rest!
So even though its the holiday season and we are thinking about others now, take time to do something for you, and remember you're special too!
Much love
Lisa xx

I absolutely LOVE change, specially when it comes to hair and I am always up for anything:) Just colored mine a nice shade of maroon and will be adding black lowlights. I don't like subtle change, I like DRAMATIC:)

**Big hug** for you Lisa :-)
Can't wait to see how your hair is now. I always loved the way you have your hair coloured.

Hey there Lisa,
Smiling from your blog! I know what you mean about leaving your hair in the hands of your hairdresser. At least you let them do it ...LOL. I am a bit of a control freak when Stephano does my hair...snip this and do that. I let him have his creative way the last time though... OMG... he just snipped all my hair off and I was freaking out but also laughing as there was a sense of letting go. LOL There is nothing like getting a good hair cut and dye job. Well, then there is the girly shopping at Sephora...LOL. You can never have enough moisturizers and beauty products. Oh yes, and the shoes, fancy sneakers and let's not forget gadgets. LOL For you Lisa, a new piece of luggage... :)
Well, I have to say that I have been treating myself rather well these last couple of months and proud of it. If we don't take care of ourselves and love ourselves then how are we supposed to care for others honestly. Many women are taught that it is selfish to take care of themselves and should put themselves last. So I say that this is a load of crap that society feeds you. When all else fails, go shopping and enjoy it.
I am sure the hairdo lots fabulous!!! Fun and uplifting blog!
Love and Hugs,
DS
Believe me, i completely understand! When I get the itch, then it is time for a change!
Most eager to see the pix! What? No spikes? This I must see!
Enjoy being home. Enjoy pottering about.
Fantastic! I love change before it happens and a few days/weeks after it happens, but just after ... forget it. lol Can't wait to see the results. Huggles.
Great blog Lisa...I was just telling my husband yesterday I wanted to cut and highlight my hair. I have never died my hair once and I'm 30. I'm ready to be transformed. Thanks for the validation. ;-)
Your hair sounds wonderful, although I really liked that sassy, spunky spiked hair as well. You've recently been writing about fresh starts. Isn't it funny that we make decisions to change our lives in some capacity, that it starts a domino effect...*out with the old, in with the new*...and pretty soon we are changing our hair, clothing style, and so many things in the spirit of impactful change! You are a lovely person and I wish all the best for you. I appreciate the reading you gave me Wednesday more than you can ever imagine and I have felt my own version of sweeping clean and starting over as a result. THANK YOU, LISA! I will never forget the lessons I have learned from you.
So true Lisa....love your posts! Wishiing you a beautiful healthy and happy holiday season. God bless. Love ya

Dearest Lisa,
I cannot wait to see your hair!! But please post a pic here as well as on Twitter and Fb because I don't go onto the other two websites... I just don't have the time and any free time I do have... well, I am on your site aren't I!
As far as hair goes, I am forever convincing friends, or whoever chooses to argue with me, that every cent I spend on my hair is worth it. They cannot seem to fathom why I go to a top salon, when I can have my hair cut and coloured at half the price. I, conversely, cannot understand why they would even question such a thing... I mean... helloooo... this is something you have to live with every day and wear with every outfit, how can it not be worth it!! I am not fussy about make-up and generally like to be pretty natural but hair and clothes... these are things I have a permanent love affair with and I make no apologies. I am a girl for goodness sakes, and proud of it. In fact, if I have a choice, when I come back in my next life-time, I wanna be a girl again... the girlier, the better as far as I am concerned.
Can't wait to see the new look so please post a pic soon! It really does seem to be a time for changes in your life... that's wonderful for you and you sound really excited, so enjoy.
My sister is staying with me for a week and we are slowly working our way through all your recorded shows. You have a new fan, and she now understands what I have been raving about for the past year or so... yay... I love it when I convert someone and add another South African to the fan list. I already have my eye on another friend that I am going to convert.
Hugs and much love,
Jeanette
Well said Lisa, as usual... I must say I have difficulties with my haire, they've been long for so many years and for the moment noon can touch it ;-)) maybe later...
Have a good day !
Lise
Lisa, cant wait to see the new "do"! You are daring -- but you have such a great face for different styles! The color is most important, to me, as I dont like to spend a lot of time styling my hair anymore. Since I moved, I cant find anyone who knows truly how to do "california blonde". Instead, they do "carolina blonde". lol, who knew? So, I keep ending up with brassyness, which I really dont like at ALL. But the bottom line is, I looove my hair. In fact, that is my xmas gift to myself this year! A great haircut, condition, & color!
I hope you have a great time tonight in Venice~~one of my fave places! xo
As MEN...
What do i do??????????????
I'm kind of Bruce Willis looking!!
Need your psychic skills on that one!
;0)
I can see and read beyond what is really being said in your blogs, and want you to know that I am sending you good thoughts for what is going on behind the "closed to public" doors. It was meant to turn out this way..part of the journey as you have said....Still,... I am sorry you are having to deal with it....even more sorry it was ever shown to me in the way it was..it cost me a much loved and treasured friendship that I still miss every day,but..appreciate it for the time it was there and for all time will send healing.... if all the etheric cords have been cut,.. why do I still know when to come and read and get the answers for my own journey just when I need them most from the words you do share with us..the generel public...
Not sure if you caught it but as soon as you commited to saying the words and "put it out there" your voice quit fighting you. I wish you and CB well....just me
Whoo Hoo, good on you Lisa !!!
