Inject some color!

We have this thing that we do as a family and actually my best friend, Janey got Charlie and I on to this.  We poke each other (gently I have to add) when ever we see a Yellow Car!  I love it.  Although Janey and Isaac (her son) poke each other continuously when they see a Yellow Bug until it goes out of site, but I had to nip that one in the bud when we were next to a Yellow Bug on the 405 for about 20 minutes... it was getting a little painful to say the least. haha

Anyway, so we are always aware of when there is a yellow car. But what it made me aware of is that there is not enough color in the world.  I look around and see grey buildings and silver and black cars, and then you see everything around you that is just so ... blah.

What is nice when you see all these cars on the freeway that are all similar colors and then you see the bright yellow car in there... its fantastic.  So then it got me looking at my clothes.  Now because at one time I had pink hair it was hard to have different color in my clothes as it clashed with my hair... not a good thing really, but I noticed that all my clothes were the same shade and that there was little color... so that had to change.  Holly and I went shopping and the first thing that she bought were, orange, bright blue, and yellow pants... I love it!!

Now I'm not saying that we should all go out and change our cars or hair color but lets inject a little bit of color. Color makes us feel happy and vibrant and positive.  Its easy to do something with color, and it could be changing pictures in the house, drawing with colored pencils, painting  a wall a bright color, injecting some color in your clothes or accessories.  There is so much that we can do with color and it can help stay positive in life.

So take a look at what you can do and start the game... yellow cars, shout out a funny word, poke each other (gently) or do something fun... but lets start injecting some life and color in our world!

With love

GREAT idea, Lisa!

However, if you go to New York with all of its YELLOW taxis, you may end up with real bruises and in hospital. Ha! Ha!

For Easter, I have more colors around my home. Inside, I have placed a very colorful centerpiece for the dining room table. Just have to watch the cats now so they don't get away with the small Easter eggs in it. And outside, yellow, blue and reddish birds are zooming by to be first at the birdfeeders. Quite a spectacle! I LOVE the spring!

Enjoy the rest of your colorful HOLIDAY, Lisa, Charlie & Holly!

Tourlou et bisous,

Thank you, Lisa! For standing up for colour!

Often I am the only person on my train station platform wearing colour.

I do so wish that everyone would embrace colour more.

I am wholeheartedly with you!

Love, Peace and Light!

Hi Lisa,

you got me thinking about colour and I have a question. Why is it we are drawn to one colour in our life? Mine is Purple and no matter how hard I try to change with fashion trends it always finds a way in somewhere. It's funny really, is someone trying to tell me something? Like don't change and forget who you are. Maybe I just answered my own question? This is fun.
Wanted to paint a feature wall a brown tone recently . When I got it home it came out a purple tone! I gave up and put the tin of paint in a cupboard and just forgot about it for a while. Had to go away for a week with work and when I returned my beautifull daughter had painted the wall compleat with new PURPLE and Pink tone custions! It looked amazing! I looked up to the heavens and said, ok you win and your right ! Life is great !

Colleen--I have that same question. I've always been drawn to purple, too. Or more of the darker shades of blue. I don't paint with it or do much decorating with it, but when picking out clothes, jewelry, or when I find something attractive or relaxing it is often purple. I sure would like to know the answer to that....

It's always about colour for me..Thankfully it's the only thing i don't need reminding about..lol..I always put colour on my face if i can't on my body, as it's an expression of how i feel. Colourful..Today as a matter of fact, i just couldn't stop staring at the sky. Not a cloud in sight, and it was sooooooo blue! I am addicted to taking photos of nature even. How on earth does the soil and the seed create such vibrant flowers? I am fascinated by it.Think about it, where does the bright colours of the roses come from? It's unreal!!!..Thanks Lisa, and i love your pink hair. Even the streaks..Looove it XXX

I am a nurse and working in hospitals they have always picked dark colours. Once I finished my degree I got a job in my choosen field and I have to say I love my uniform. My shirt instead of navy blue is bright blue almost teal. The carers wear fluro green, lifestyle red and some in yellow.
Instead of drab colours we are bright to match our happy friendly faces. I find this makes the place inviting and friendly. People are more able to approach us.

We to play a similar game to the yellow car but we use v-dubs (beeetles) we call out the colour of it and punch bug. And like the name punch the nearest person.

Thanks for the wonderful post Lisa

Not enough people take the time to really enjoy all these beautiful colors that are in our vision. We should all take some time and enjoy the space around us. It is just a matter of opening our own eyes and noticing the things that catches your eye, it is always the COLOR!!!

Love this! I actually took a class in energetic elements, and I suspect that you, Lisa, like me, are a fire energy person. So, great colors for you would be turquoise, bright orange, brown, yellow, gold, lime green, olive and emerald green, medium to dark blues, and maroon - basically the colors you see in a flame. You may want to experiment, because for fire energy people - wearing white, black, and gray tend to diminish our energy. When I eliminated black from my wardrobe (used to be 80% black), I noticed a huge difference!

Loooove it!! LOL! I couldnt agree more, Lisa! I was just thinking the same thing the other day. Since I gained weight, I have been dressing in black a LOT. Blegh. And MY home is soooo pretty & light, yet when I venture into the town I live in (which I dont care for very much), I notice that I am in black. huh. Interesting......I have a very busy summer & your blog inspired me to get rid of the old & welcome in the new world of COLOR once again!!! Yes, that includes having purple extensions once again......lmao. xxxooo Happy Easter to you, Holly & Charlie!!! Aloha~

Hello Lisa, I watch your show often and wonder how you do all this with out being scared. I have had had followings all my life since i was a young girl. It has become worse since i have gotten older some days i feel im going mad with all the voices and everyone trying to talk at once. Usally there is only one at a time but for some reason i am now dealing with 4 spirits who are very cheeky. Because i am so scared i try to push all this away. My mum says i need to learn to tune in but i dont know how. Everything i see and hear is in my mind thats how they seem to communicate. Doesnt matter where i move to or live i will have a spirit around me sometimes not good ones . Do you know some one or a group that can help me tune in so i dont have to always be so jumpy and scared and learn how to communicate, i feel as though im going mad i know that sounds silly but sometimes its how i feel. I live in Australia and hope to hear back soon. Have a good night. Thankyou Kind Regards Connie.

"Yellow Cars"
by William Stafford

Some of the cars are yellow, that go
by. Those you look at, so glimmering
when light glances at their passing. Think
of that hope: “Someone will
like me, maybe.” The tan ones
don’t care, the blue have made
a mistake, the white haven’t tried.
But the yellow – you turn your head:
hope lasts a long time if you’re happy.

--------------------------------------
I love yellow cars. they really do symbolize "hope" to me. In one way or another. I like to count them with my son. It's such a happy thing to do. :)

omni omni omni

there is no world like the spirit world

an aside, found this, thought to share:

"‎"Chromotherapy is a method of treatment of diseases by colour. It is best used as a supportive therapy along with other natural methods of preserving health such as correct diet, adequate rest and relaxation, exercise, yogic asanas and so on. According to practitioners of chromotherapy, the cause of any disease can be traced to the lack of a particular colour in the human system. Colour therapy is a technique of restoring imbalance by means of applying coloured light to the body. It was a popular method of cure even in ancient times. Some 2,500 years ago, Pythagoras applied colour light therapeutically and ‘colour halls’ were used for healing in ancient Egypt, China and India. Every substance on earth contains colour. Even the rays cast on earth by celestial bodies contain colour in the form of white light. The rays of the sun contain seven different colours — violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. These are natural colours which are highly beneficial to the maintenance of health and for healing diseases. According to Dr. Babbit, a well-known authority on chromotherapy, “sunlight is the principal curative agent in nature’s laboratory and where light cannot enter, disease does. Chlorosis, anaemia, leukaemia, emaciation, muscular debility, degeneration of heart and liver, dropsical effusion, softening of bones, nervous excitability, physical deformity, stunted growth and consumption are the result of excluding oneself from the beneficial effects of sunlight.” Sunlight plays an important role in the recovery from chronic diseases. Judicious use of sunlight can be part of the curing process in almost every affliction. The rays of the sun improve digestion and nutrition, quicken blood and lymph circulation and increase the elimination of impurities through the skin."

Hi Lisa,

We do the same thing with pink & yellow cars - you poke the person and say "yellow/pink car no returns", that way they can't poke you back, might be worth remembering if you end up following the car for 20 minutes Lol

With love x x

I just read your latest blog Lisa, you are so spot on! I love color, I wear lots of colors everyday, my house has different colors all over it ,walls, paintings etc.

I tend to follow the practise of wearing each days color. What I mean is that each day of the week has a color and I make sure I wear at least one article of that color , be it earrings, t-shirt, socks undies. My eldest daughter got me into it a long time ago, and even though she has given up on it I haven't, I like it that monday is yellow, tuesday red etc. It kind of starts your day on a happy note.

It is wonderful to take in your surroundings and you are right, a lot of our world is very grey and bland. We can help by adding color to our lifes, gardens, clothes, houses. I think people are afraid of color and they shouldn't, they shoud take the plunge and paint a wall in their houses bright blue, orange ,yellow.... we have and the house is a happy friendly place to be in.

Thank you for sharing with all of us, Have a wonderful bright sunny day with Holly and Charlie... Lots of love Ana Maria

ps: the Queen did wear yellow for the weeding last night!

I am surrounded by beautiful tones of color with all of David's Artwork, as you can see by all the colors that are in the Orbital Landscape Print that we gave you at the Hotel Dupont.
LISA, YOU have brought color back into my life, and for that you will always hold a spot in my heart...
Funny, I needed to do some shopping myself, and even the sales person was admiring all the bright colors that were in my purchases!!
Here's to all the beautiful colors, that paint your life....

I agree... there is toooooo much drabness around ...may be its because so many people are depressed and don't know it...a little color brightens everyone's life we should start a color movenent...no drabness allowed.

My nieces (aged 6 & 10) play this game but shout "spotto" whenever they see a car. I have started to look for the cars myself and say "spotto" to myself whenever I am alone and driving. I agree, there is not enough colour in the world but when you look at nature you are able to see all the colour you need. If you look for colour it is there even in the drab streets but a colour movement would be wonderful. If only we could make the clothing companies see that they need colour especially in winter. Everyone please add colour to you life.
