Letting go
Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 10:53PM As I am approaching the ending of a year for me and the beginning of a new one, I have done a lot of thinking, contemplating and also I have made decisions and some of those decisions have also been made for me too, which is never a bad thing. But I have come to see how much my life has changed, it's done a 180 degree flip in less than a year. There were so many times that in this last year I have cried, but there have been more times that I have laughed. And I have laughed really hard… in fact more so that I have done in a long time.
It's been a good year and as I turn 37 I am proud to get older and with it I may just be a little wiser. however I am still a kid a heart, a child who loves to laugh and play and sing and dance. But what I have come to realize is priorities. Priorities in life naturally change given your circumstance, and they have to. You can't always go through life with the same priority, of course children and family may be an exception but what I have realized is that YOU are the priority. Taking care of you and also allowing others to take care of you too.
That is something that I have always struggled with, but now is the time for me to sit back and let someone else take care of me. That isn't a bad thing it's actually proving to me and some of those around me that I can let go and let someone else or other people take the lead, and you know… I like it!!! However I know the controlling Lisa will creep in there at some point, but for now, I will wallow in that moment, where I am not in control and quite frankly I haven't a clue what tomorrow is bringing…
There is a sense of freedom in it. Being present, being in the moment and knowing that tomorrow the sun will rise, it will be day break at some point and the day will start, and I will follow the pathway that I am given no matter where it will lead. Who knows it could be a day to change my life. But what I do know is that I am in the right place at the right time for any given moment. And it's and incredible feeling. But like I say it may only last a day, but I will enjoy it for that day!
So sometimes let others take control, allow them to make decisions and allow them to make you their priority. It's not easy to always give up control but when you do, enjoy it. Everyone of us has a purpose in life and every one of us fights for something, and everyone of us has to make decisions and it's not always easy, so let someone take control, take the reins and follow their lead. You might just enjoy it!

((((((((((((((((LIsa)))))))))))))))))))) I think you have made a very wise choice here and one that many of us should adhere to. It can be a nice break allowing someone else to "take over" as it takes the stress and pressure off us, if only if it is a temp thing.
It makes my heart rejoice to know you have had so much laughter this past yr...it does a body good:) Keep smiling, Lisa, keep laughing and don't ever change cuz you are simply the best and so dearly admired and loved. l have followed your blogs for 18 months and l have seen the change in you through your writing. Ohhh Lisa I can't believe that the Queen of Control would ever hand the reigns over to anyone hehe but good on you if you can actually do it as I know how hard that is.... I am glad that you are writing about this and even if it is just for a short time you deserve the break from being the responsible one and to enjoy the fun of being spoiled.

It took me a long time to allow someone to take care of me,me,me.
I always took care of someone else's needs.
Now that kids are out of the home taking care of them selfs I am a free woman and I love it.

Wow a 180, that is amazing, I could see why you'd fight during that for some control.. but so glad you have found a place to be given too and be taken care of. There are so many givers out there who give and expect nothing in return but to know it helps.

What a year you have had for sure !!!! We are always learning and growing, we sometimes slip back into old ways but it is important to be able to see that now and try again !!!
Asking for help is the hardest , letting them actually do it for you...even harder but it definitely is a freeing, comforting feeling...knowing you are not always on your own.
Everyone deserves to be happy and so we have to do whatever it takes, to be where we want to be...physically, emotionally and spiritually !!!

I love this blog and it says it all about your own growth and transformation. It takes guts to make the changes you have made in your life and you should stand tall and be proud. I am so proud of you because I know it has not been an easy ride. Even through all of your pain, you managed to give others a message of hope and inspiration through your blogs. It has been amazing reading your blogs and being the witness of your growth. Most of all, it makes me smile inside knowing that you are making yourself a priority... it is about time my friend! Once in a while, it is okay to let someone else take care of you and take the lead. It gives them a chance to get to know you on a deeper level... so just trust that they will hold you with care. You have incredible intuition and you will know when not to relinquish that control. A little control is okay when you are protecting yourself, but don't shut yourself off completely to what can potentially be a beautiful experience. You are getting wiser and getting younger... Ah the wisdom from one "control" being to another. *grin* As you so eloquently mentioned in my reading to watch out for that dang control. And yes Lisa..we know it really doesn't exist. That's the kicker isn't it! ha! Yes let someone else take the rein now and again and allow yourself to be loved
