Make a change if you are stuck in a rut!

It's the 3rd day in Hawaii and we are having a great time, Charlie is a beach bunny and so are the other kids, and we are all loving the time here. Of course I have my time where I am in my room tapping away at the new projects that are coming up and making sure I am working but it's not a hardship really.

I found inspiration from my blog from a friend today, who called me and said that she was going to a 'posh' event and that she had nothing to wear and was in a bit of a tiz... She walked into her wardrobe and she said she had nothing to wear, but I told her to go through it, and pull out all the dresses that she had, and she was adamant that she hadn't got anything, but interestingly enough, she pulled out a dress that she hadn't worn in a few years which she loved.

She then started the excuses... Oh I'm not going to be able to get into it... etc etc etc. So that was it. I told her to put the phone down and try it on and call me. As I was waiting for that call back, I kept hearing, it's perfect. And when she called back... she was so happy, because it was perfect! Perfect dress for the perfect occasion.

What we forget is that sometimes we don't see what others see. Especially when it comes to ourselves. We look at things and say, I haven't got anything to wear, because the reality is, is that you see what you have to wear every day, but when a friend walks in and see's your closet they will always see something different because they are not used to it.

We get in ruts, when things start becoming part of our every day life, we get stuck and its then that we have to shimmy it up a little and make a change. Just like our clothes. You may have the same little black dress but if you put a different piece of jewelry on or a scarf it can change the look.

And that is what happens in life. Sometimes its about getting out of your routine. Take your partner on a surprise road trip to spice up the life, take your kids to a new adventure park, take a different drive to work, get your coffee at a different Starbucks, wear your hair a different way.

its amazing what you can do to change up your life... it really is. And you never know that when you change your routine even in a small way it will start to make allowances for larger changes in your life and you may actually find that you will meet new and interesting people in that different starbucks... who can change your life completely!

Remember to smile today and start making the small changes and look at life as an adventure as you never know where you will end up!

Much love

Lisa xx

Hi Lisa .. this is a very interesting blog post for me as my'spirit' friends have been showing me messages related to change and a need to change my life. Then to see you blog about this is maybe the message they are trying to get to me. ;)

Dear Lisa,

I haven't commented for a while but I felt that I needed to today. You are so right about ruts, and boy....I am really in one.

I haven't worked in over 2 years now. I NEVER thought I'd get tired of being home, but I was sooo wrong. Being home and not wanting to spend money or gas in the car has been the reality of my life and has thrown me into such a rut. I know it is an excuse as I have two legs that are perfectly fine to walk and I am so fortunate in that regard as I know many who do not have use of their legs for many reasons.

Your message was a HUGE wake up call once again. I do take walks and try to on a daily basis....but as of recent, I have gotten lazy and bored. I just need to change my route and also my attitude. I can do it!

Thank you for always coming through with inspiration. I hope you and Charlie and your crew are having a fantastic time in one of the most beautiful places on this earth.

Love to you and aloha!
Keith

Thanks for the reminder to embrace change. It's almost my birthday...and i'm definitely ready to change things up a bit. Is Charlie counting down to his birthday? I always have...April 15 is only 1 week and 1 day away. I'm turning 37 years young! Tell Charlie that I wish him an early Happy Birthday! :)

Have a magical stay in Hawaii,

I definately agree with you.... I for one am not good with a stagnet life style.. I cant have things being the same way day to day and yet ... it is for the most part. Drives me nutz !!! And it's not that my life is boring or chaotic .... well it kind of is, but it's more so that its just always the same thing for a reason... Kids !!! They have thier routines and I follow and meet them the best way I can for them. However, then that part of me that longs for other things...... I want adventure, I want to experience all these things but i feel stuck.... and I aint complaining really. I have you and a couple other friends that live my dreams for me, .... for now :) And I couldnt be happier cause you and them deserve this and I feel like I am there as well when I hear about it or see pics of it ( Thats a hint there Lisa ) . Some day it will be my turn though and WOW STARBUCKS !!!! I hit EVERYONE SINGLE starbucks I encounter :)

Hahaha TOTALLY LOVE THEM .... omg I am such an addict !!!!
Hugs girl....get off puter ...... your in HAWAII for cry eye !!!! Walk the beaches, swim with dolphins, surf a wave or two, hula dance by the moonlite.... LIIVE IT UP !!!!

Okay.. done flapping my liips :)

Lisa ~ this was a perfect entry! Thx once again!!!! I have to agree with Atmos though....I dont know how you can be working in paradise! Speaking of mixing things up a bit....I had an impulsive moment today & asked my hubby out on a date. We are in the same boat as Keith described -- in a rut & have been struggling financially for awhile now. We became used to not spending, so we also became used to watching the TV as a routine, before bed. Its not at ALL what either of us wants for ourselves (not everynight anyway...). So tonight we went to a film at cute little brew & view theater. Sat outside in the perfect weather & people watched! It was a great change of pace!

Love you! I will be thinking of you all tomorrow at the show......xxooo

Thank you Lisa, it's really good advice it is true definitely... Routine is the worse... And we should look at things with a different eye each time, not get used to people or things we do.
I'm happy that Charlie enjoys the beach so much..
Have a great time !

Love,

Lise

Hi my love, I am so happy that you are having such a great time in hawaii.
Charlie, I am sure is having a great time at the beach. You are so right about change and getting in to a rut. I have not been working since Feb.10 because of my Parkinsons
snd then about three weeks ago completely destroyed my car.
So now I have no transportation and I am at home every day while my daughter goes to work and my son-in-law goes to school for the whole day. Talk about getting into a rut!!! LOL!! I think though that I have gotten out of it at this point and find that can do other things. Well as soon as I finish this I am taking my walker out doors and going for a long walk which I was going to do earlier this morning but I had gotten in such a rut I guess you could call it. So now its beautiful out and I do need to get out for a while in the sunshine. So my dear friend again for being you and giving us such thought provoking blogs. It is such a pleasure to know you and I will see you in May at the workshop. Please give Charlie a big hug for me and welll as for you. I love you so much and wish you all the happiness that you so deserve!
Okay my firend I am going to go out side now so I am going to log off for now..

My love to you and Charlie,

Mary

Dear Lisa,

So glad you are having a good time in Hawaai. The beach is always the best fun for kids... it is amazing how much easier and more content they are when outdoors.

I guess routine will always be a part of our lives, and we will never entirely get away from it, and to some extent it is good for us as it keeps us grounded, but it is good to change things around every once in a while or add in another element to keep life interesting. I find my life has had many chapters to it as well at any rate so that I don't feel too bogged down or get a chance to get bored.

As far as my wardrobe is concerned... now you are talking another ball game!! I have an ongoing love affair with mine and am constantly wanting to add to it, or see something that I just "have to have". Although to be fair to myself, I have clothes that I have worn for the last eight years and still wear them today. I just mix them up with something new or in a different colour combination, and then I have a brand new outfit. As you say, a new accessory added to something old and you can totally change the look, and I do that constantly because I love mixing and matching ideas and colours. I won't say another word, because when it comes to clothes and fashion, I am very passionate and have LOTS to say... lol.

Have loads of fun in Hawaai.

Hugs,
Jeanette

Oh, and another thing... with both my man and I being air signs, i.e. gemini and libran, there is NO chance of us standing in one place for too long. I once read, that watching a libran and a gemini together is like watching trapeze artists... I can so relate to that... lol.

Hugs again,
Jeanette

Dear Lisa, While you are in Hawaii, make sure you go up into Diamond Head Park and climb to the top. It is definitely worth it. The view is awesome!. Make sure you take in a luau and go see the Arizona memorial. (You probably already know this right?!!) If you can, a helicopter flight. We went to Kauaii in '06 and took a heli ride with a man named Helicopter Joe (Sulak?) He had flown in Vietnam and a book was published about his letters home to his Mother. He was such a sweetheart!.. He died in a crash I believe iearly in '07 and I pray he is at rest. I loved your show. Are you still on lifetime? I truly never write to people that I don't know. This is new for me, but I feel a connection with you and you don't even know me! Hawaii is my favorite place that I have been to. Enjoy your stay! Hopefully, I can write you later.Take care! Leslie

If you need a personal tour guide who can show you parts of the island you would never see on a regular tour, like the top of a volcano, or parts of the jungle that only the locals know about, contact my adopted father. Brian Berry at remax realty he has lived in Hawaii off and on since 1972, been there now for over 15 years. He is also a very accomplished chef and has run some of the biggest resorts on the island and can recommend some of the best restaurants that again only the locals would know about.
I haven't talked to him in over 7 years, but he would really be able to show you things on the island that you would never be able to experience. His phone # is 808-327-3475 and email bjberry@aloha.net. He really would be able to show you a part of the island I know you and the kids would just love and never be able to see on your own.
Would just like to offer you an experience you may not be able to have as my final good-bye to you...maybe he can help you experience some beauty you would have never been able to see, and it can make up for some of the un-beauty I have brought to you.
Thanks for all you taught me, the wonderful friendship we had, and the beauty and things I would have never been able to experience if you had not come into my life. Sorry I couldn't do the same for you, but maybe if you contact him, I can somehow make up for it via someone else.
I wish you all the best, and will always look out for you.
