Friends
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 07:28PM Well the time came to say goodbye to my friends from the UK and as I sit at the airport waiting for my Mary Poppins to arrive, I have been thinking about life and friends and how important they are to us all.
Janey and Jonesy have been in my life for many many years and I love them dearly. They are just the greatest, I have other friends who are also very dear to me, but these two have seen me through more ups and downs than a roller coaster... but thats what friends are for.
However they are also very quick to pull me up on my faults also, which trust me I hate hearing about, and I think we all do but they do it. I know it comes from a place of love and respect, not anything else, and if they can't be honest with me then they are not really my true friends.
I remember Janey pointing out some things to me, that I didn't want to see, and when I sat back I saw how others see me, and I made the change, and I am very happy about that, that conversation has stuck with me for years. Jonesy... well she does it in a way where she says, 'Lets have a girlie lunch' and that is it... she has be worrying... and I say, come on, spit it out... haha but most of the time I know what she is going to say but it still worries me, and I know that they both don't like to bring these things to me, but they do it from a place of love and it's be because they love me.
So even though we have to give people home truths, which we all don't like to hear, sometimes it will help us on our pathway. So always speak the truth, and from the heart and know that when you are being told these things, it's because people care about you and want the best out of you.
Right I just saw Mary Poppins umbrella land, and so it's time for me to pick her up and take her home to surprise Charlie for his birthday tomorrow... lots of surprises in store for him over the next few days... I can't believe he is 10... where has the time gone?

those words are so very true lisa. The number of times my own sister was trying to stear me on the right path, for instance when she could see people taking advantage.Or try and help me through my own faults. Have a safe journey home. see you in june at the gold coast.

Awwww how sad it is to see friends have to leave but we can find comfort in knowing we will see them again and be able to spend more memorable and precious moments with them. I am glad you have such a close friendship with Janey and Jonesy and one can feel the love you have for them...as they do for you. Friensships are one of the most important gifts we can receive.
Sure, we may not like what they tell us sometimes but hey, that's what TRUE friends do and it is with good intent and LOVE.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to (((((((((((((Charlie))))))))))))) ohhhhhhhhhh he is going to have a great time for sure...I am glad u are able to be home from touring to celebrate his special day. Post pics of the cake and bday boy please:) Gawd, they grow up soooooooooooo fast, Lisa, they really really do. He is one special little man, wise beyond his yrs and has a awesome future before him. Hey, he has a great mom so will learn by example:)

Thx for the blog tonight, Lisa....it was needed. Actually, its something i need to remind myself more often. Thats its okay to call things how I see them -- in a nice, but firm way. Thank you! And it also reminds me to stop secluding myself -- as I have dealt with others not approving of who I am, etc...since I was a child. I think because I was always told my faults -- I now have a tendency to retreat from certain crowds.
But I understand what you are talking about....when time comes to change what we're doing, how we're approaching things, etc....its nice to have people in our lives let us know that enough is enough. xxooo

I think it's awesome the friendship you share with Janey and Jonesy..... it's those kinds of friendships you want to hold tight to and never let go. Cause it dont get more real then that !!!!
I have a handful of friends that are the same way... they arent afraid to tell me like it is but even though they know that it may upset me or that I dont want to hear it, they make me aware for my own good and they do it cause they care !!! They as well have been there for me through the ups and downs so I treasure my friendships with them and always will no matter what.
I also have to admit that you as well have been there for me every time.... and you arent afraid to tell me like it is hahaha and you do.... but you never give up on me.... even when I do and even though your honesty may sometimes bother me at first, it's what I need to hear and it's always the truth, and your never afraid to tell me.... so thank you lisa with all my heart, you have truly been a good friend to me !!!

Happy landing Mary Poppins!! Lisa, you are truly blessed because you seem to be surrounded by good friends, one of life's most precious gifts.
True honesty in a friendship is so important even if we don't like to hear it sometimes. A very good friend of mine once said to me, that when she wants a really honest opinion, she asks me, because I don't sugar coat answers. I didn't know whether I liked what she said or not at the time, but after thinking about it, I decided it was a good thing. I am more comfortable with myself when I tell it like it is rather than avoiding the truth. I am, however, learning say things in a more diplomatic way, because sometimes I can blurt something out without thinking and hurt people's feelings, which I really don't mean to do.
I hope Charlie has an awesome birthday. He is a millenium baby like our little Daniel. Me and the grandchildren sent him a little something. I hope the South African postal service got it to you safely. They can be a bit iffy sometimes. It was sent with lots of love and good intention.

If I may say...spend as much time with him as you can arrange. My only child, will be a senior in college next year. Now, when I try to hold him for more than a few seconds, he gets so tickled that he just giggles and squirms! LOL-Kids!

Hey there Lisa,
First, I would like to send big birthday wishes to that big boy of yours. Wow, he is 10 already. Happy Birthday to Charlie!!!!
So I just read your blog and I have to say that I just don't like criticism at all and can be quite stubborn about it. :) ... However, if it comes from a loving place and the person delivering the message is soft about it, I will definitely listen and think about it. It really comes down to how the message is delivered. I am learning to be more receptive to constructive criticism and not let my ego or feelings get in the way. It truly is how we learn, even though we may not like it.
