Ask and you shall receive!
Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 09:07PM I didn't blog last night as I was told by my hubby, and quite rightly so, that I had been staring at a computer screen all day and that I needed a rest... and I have to admit he is at the point of dragging me a way from it again! tut tut tut... I am so bad, but I can't help it.
Well I want to tell you a little story about Charlie... and the art of negotiation! I was lying on the bed tonight, and he was chatting away with me, and he started to massage my feet... now Charlie gives the most amazing massages you can ask for, but when he stopped I wiggled my toes and said... awww... don't stop... and then he looked at me and he said, "Mom how much do you pay for a massage in the shops?" So I said, normally it's a dollar a minute.
Nothing more was said... and he carried on massaging my feet and legs and he even went and got the body lotion from the bathroom and I saw him watch the clock... But silly me thought he was watching it to know when he was going to have to go to bed. Oh no!
15 minutes later, he stopped and said, 'times up you owe me 15 bucks!' WHAT! ha ha ha I couldn't believe it, my own son... he said, 'you say that my massages are better than the ones where you get your nails done, so you have a bargain!' I couldn't believe it... so what could I say...
So when I told Kev he laughed, however did tell Charlie he should do it out of love for his mommy, but the funny thing is, Charlie is so like Kev, he must have got his negotiation skills from him, because that is certainly not me. I ended up bargaining with him and he got $10... and telling him that is all his money for the week.. and he seemed happy really however he hasn't had any allowance for weeks so I didn't mind.
How funny... bless him... ask and you shall receive!
So I suppose the motto is, never be afraid of asking, because you might just get what you want!
Hugs and love
Lisa xx

I have fond memories as each one of my kids 'worked' for their allowance. Charlie is already getting those negotiating skills down, huh?

Lisa, thanks for the belly laugh tonight , I really needed that! Charlie, you are some businessman. But yes, you should do it out of love for your mum, but ,you know that old saying ask and you shall receive!
that is one way to earn money for Australia!!
Love to you my Lisa, Charlie and Kev,
Mary
Lisa, you are a very fortunate woman to have two such intrepid agents and negotiators making sure all the business gets taken care of! You can relax into mediumistic and creative mode with peace, knowing that with them two about, the bills will always get paid!
Charlie is SO CLASSIC!! Yes, he should do it out of love for mommy... but then we wouldn't get to hear these great stories!! He really IS such an 18yo in a 9yo's body... So cute!
Love it Love it Love it... =D
<3
That is so funny!! Guess he's going to be great businessman when he grows up.
You are fortunate to have two lovely guys in your life!

wow I couldnt believe the title of this post. I have heard this alot this year - especially by people whom I go to for guidance and somewhere in the talk that is what they say "ask and you shall receive" -I think the most important thing in regards to this statement is to believe in yourself and in your request with what you are asking and feel you --deserve it--- and are worthy enough - then it will come =)
Dear Lisa, Charlie is so cute. Your Blog made me laugh too. (((((hug))))
I had my Birthday last week. So I bought some birthday gifts for myself from your online store. It feels very precious to me and I know that I will treasure the gifts. It made me think of the line you mentioned about 'Ask and you shall receive'.
I wish that I could come to Australia to see your show. But for now, I love watching your show on TV.
Have a nice day, Lisa, and enjoy your time with your cute son.
Hi Lisa,
That Charlie is going places!! He is quite a guy!
Take care!
Hugs,
Cheryl
Its amazing how quickly children grow up and learn, they become such witty things. What an adorable story! Aww Charlie, haha already turning into a business man haha I love it!!! You have a very smart, bright and amazing boy Lisa, you should be (and I'm sure you are) so proud!! :D
Haha, that's awesome! It can be quite good though to have negotiating skills at a young age. That is called "intelligence" right there! Im sure he was also doing it out of love for him mom as well as earning some extra money at the same time. "Ask and you Shall Recieve"---I need to practice that more!! Well, hope your time at home is going great!!
I look forward to hearing more about Charlie's blossoming massage talent. He may combine this with other skills!
I could listen to your stories all day, Lisa.
Lots of Love
Lana
I am blessed with three grandchildren (the BEST position to be in!), and I am constantly amazed and joyed by what comes out of their mouths, and also how each one of them is so unique in their own way. Stephen, the eldest at 12 , I have a very special bond with for some reason (and was born in the same nursing home as I was), and certainly is the businessman and negotiator. Daniel, 9 seemingly cruises through life and gets lost in front of a TV or computer screen if you don't watch him and he has three girls fancying him right now! Both boys doing very well at school. Then we have Jessica (7)... a character of note! So stubborn you cannot believe... one day when she was about 5, we were driving to the shops, and as usual I had music on in the car (I'm a bit of a funky granny). Anyway, she quite bossily says to me "Nana switch off the music". So I tell her, "No, Jessie, I'm listening to it." So she says "but I want to sing you a song". "Well okay, I didn't know you wanted to sing for me. I'll switch off the music and you can sing". She reckons "No, I was going to sing you a song, but you didn't want to listen the first time so I'm NOT singing you a song anymore.....(quiet for a while)... and it was a pwetty song Nana" (with the bottom lip to go with it). And that was that, she wouldn't sing. I can eat them up at times like that. One should capture or note these things down because you forget and they are such precious moments. They also grow up so quickly, you need to nurture them in their early years.
Love and blessings as always,
Jeanette (Plettenberg Bay, South Africa)
I also have two negotiatiors at home; age 7 and 10. I pay them to step on my back :D The youngest one is doing the warm up and the oldest and heaviest one is finshing it. Ahhh...!
Highly recommended ;)
Ha ! This is so funny Lisa ! It reminds of me when I was a child... I had 10 francs (which is far less than 10 $, bravo Charlie !) when I polished my mother's nails or when I shaved her legs.. I loved to do it, not only for the money because it was funny but indeed it was a good compromise ;-))
Anyway, Charlie is really smart, funny story, thank you Lisa !
Love and hugs,
Lise
Dear Lisa,
So true, I wanted to meet you and had been wishing and hoping that I could, I kept puitting all my enegy out circumstances and limitations I never would of had you not of come to ""DE, After seeing and thanking you in Easton, David took the picture of you and I in the lobby. Two animal spirit (actually three this one harder to see) are in the picture. I ASKED to get a feather before we left for the weekend if I was indeed supossed to see and feel my babys presence in the picture. I was blessed with Three feathers. When I fouund the first it was poking out from pine needles covering the ground, I picked it up and as I walked it into the house I said it's a little weathered but still a feather, I wonder if there will be one from the bed pillow on the floor, there was , The third I had just needed to run back in the house for one last thing the path was short and not evern a handspan wide and I feverently looked for one more when I turned to come back outside I was almost mad at myself for saying especially since I already looked so hard 'WOULD IT BE TO GREEDY TO FIND ONE MORE' I took two steps out and there was the most beautiful feather out of all three . I ASKED AND I RECEIVEDI am truly bleesed for the gift of feathers . When I came home after the weekend I did'nt want to ask because I fealt that would be greedy but human nature I did look, when I came back outside I was feeling sad and I said just as I touched the door handle today is the anniversary would it be to greedy to find one more, There two steps out the door another beautiful feather I'M TRULY TOUCHED ..... MOVED..... and so much want to share the photograph with you Lisa and I sure hope to get the opportunity. Your energy and gifts gave me a treasure in return, a healing hug from you and a connection with my baby, no words could ever touch my sincere gratitude and love I have in my heart for all these GIFTS AND MIRACLES THAT I RECEIVED ONLY BECAUSE I ASKED.
hugs to you
"Terry
Hey there Lisa,
LMAO...Too funny, Kev dragging you away from computer. Sorry but I got a really funny visual when I read it. I get in trouble too... Maybe we can start a 12 step program for computer junkies... we can call it CAA for Computer Addicts Anonymous. :) Hello fellow CA's. The first step is taking a hammer to your computer. Let me tell you, if my computer could cook a meal, there is no way I would even move off of it. :) Total geek addict here and proud to be one!
LMAO at Charlie... that little entrepreneur of yours is quite a negotiator. My goodness, $1 per minute... that is hillarious. To think I used to give Dad a backrub for Lifesaver candies and I had competition because my brother wanted to get in on the action so he ended up with a cut too...LOL. However, I did rig up a scheme in my Grandparents backyard and pool. I called it the titlewave raft ride. I charged all the kids on the block and my brother, cousin, and me would make the pool shake from waves while tugging each kid around the pool... OMG... Grandma's backyard became quite the popular place. When Mom found out I got into a little trouble. :) Maybe you better not share this with Charlie as it may give him ideas...LOL. I am sure that little angel of yours has quite the creative imagination already.
Thanks for the funny blog and bringing me back to a great time of fun memories!
Love~n~Hugs,
DS
LOL, Lisa!!! Most kids are trying to make some money and sometimes the situation is just so funny!!! Kids will get you like that!!! But, that was good that Kev told him that he should do it out of love/the kindness of his heart. Much Love <3 <3 <3
What a sweetie Charlie is! My son is about the same age and we had the same scene at our house the other day. Too funny! He also gives fabulous massages along with a bonus guided meditation. After twenty minutes I was presented with a hand written bill with a space to add a tip! LOL... He wants to start his own spa when he grows up (along with being a pro baseball player). In any case, he'll be a good business person! :)
That is soooo cute!! Kids are something else!!
LOL LOL LOL......Charlie sounds like one smart little business man! ~ PJ :)
