Outside world!
Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 02:34PM It is no secret in life, I am a workaholic... yes I always have been and always will be. Kev just commented how focused I become when I am working and a bomb could go off and if I am engrossed I would probably look up, but carry on with what I am doing. It's the way I am. I also know that Caroline is exactly like that too.
There is nothing wrong with being focused and getting work done but we all need a break!
I have to say it's been nice to have time away from the computer. When you are in and out of hotels internet is not always available and my iphone has racked up enough roaming charges that will have Caroline cringing for months... ha ha ha
So I have had to have time off from emails and websites etc, but I have had interviews up to my eyes... It's been lovely to do, but reality is that I am still working when I am doing that. My brain doesn't stop and Kev laughs at me, as I carry a journal everywhere I go so that if an idea pops in, i write it down so I don't forget it. Yes I know I have notes on my iphone but with the amount of data that comes through on that, my battery needs a break! ha ha ha
Taking a break has been nice, I have been able to connect with friends again who I haven't seen even though it's been very brief. I have been able to connect with Kev also. Which has been important. It's been a time of being able to take my eyes away from emails, website and iphones and talk. Look around, take note of what is going on in the world. It's important.
We have become a world of internet junkies, and i am guilty of creating that also. Yes we have made many friends who have become like family, but sometimes we need to walk away from the cyber world that may of us hide in and walk out side and smell the fresh air and look beyond the world wide web.
Take time to laugh with friends, not over email but catching up over coffee. Take time to play with the kids, not the video games on the internet, Take time to tell people you love them, not by sending them an email. Take time to look around you and watch the world go by, and not lurk in a chat room or read celebrity blogs.
I know I am telling you to do some thing and here I am writing on the net, but sometimes it's nice to take time away and focus on our physical life that is around. So heres a challenge... who can take a weekend off without checking emails and surfing the net. I bet thats a tough task for many of us... I applaud those who do it. I know I will find it tough... but I also know I will feed your addiction as I will blog tomorrow!!! ha ha ha
But seriously, take time to step out into the outside world and see what is going on around you and take note. It's been an eye opener for me!
With love
Lisa xx

Lisa: You are so right as always. I have been guilty lately of spending far too much time on the computer because I haven't had much else to keep me busy. I have wasted several weeks now when I have had several days off due to things being slow and instead of going to see friends and doing things, I have spent time here talking on the internet. Time to go out and enjoy the beautiful day we have here in Sunny Calif.
Thanks Lisa for getting me off my a....! I need to get moving a bit more. Love you and can't wait to see you in Reno on Aug. 1st. Enjoy the rest of your time off. Have fun! Safe travels back to the USA.
Peace and love,
Anna
I think the most time I am away from the computer is when me and Terry are on the motorcycle on the weekend. Or asleep! LOL Usually when we are both here at night, he has his laptop, and I am here on the desktop, both doing our thing. To me, when I am here by myself, it is a solution to boredom. It is hard to think about how we all used to get by without the internet, or cell phones for that matter.
It's a matter of balance in our lives, besides how would all of us get our "Lisa fix " without our computer time (LOL) Missed your Twiitter & blogging but know you need your down time like the rest of us. Glad to hear you have had some time to re-connect with friends and together time with Kev, you need that.
Safe travels back to the US, then take a breath you'll be busy again, but remember your going to need some "me" time very shortly... Take care of yourself.
Blessings & Love

Touche' Lisa. Many wishes for a lot more days of "connecting" without a cord attached ;)

why do people want to work so much?
Hi beautiful girl, thanks for the reminder ... your right it's nice to connect with people face to face and feel the fresh air. I personally feel very loved when someone
comes to visit I LOVE it. Or I spend the day out with hubby. Or on my own away from the computer.
I have a seeing eye dog puppy, she puts smiles on so many peoples faceswhen we are out.. but as much as I can type this.. you have to see her. Like a lot of experiences that cannot be manufactured by words and pictures.
Ehh...............we can do both!!! Just don't spend hours and hours on the computer!!! LOL
: ) I've recently gonna a weekend without going on the computer. I also gave up using the internet for lent one year and I survived. : ) Much Love <3 <3 <3
Dear Lisa
Blessings… be well be blessed !
So True, I am a workaholic also.. I think it is in part because I am ADD… I cannot sit still.
I am now a grandfather, I missed the wonders of seeing my boys grow up. My only regret in life is that I was a great provider but I missed my boys growing up. It makes me very sad. I can not make up that time…. But I am trying.
Yes,, indeed take time to plan and to RE-CREATE (recreation)
Yes, Lisa, this is SO vital for our spirits...to get out into the world where we can smell the fresh air and touch a friend's hand! I work and 'play' on the laptop an unreal amount of time, but absolutely insist on a minimal hour morning and hour evening walk...it is the best time of the day!
Thank you for the reminders...ENJOY every minute of your time!!!
LOVE and big HUGS!
xoxo

This has been a struggle over the past six months and I have canceled a few of my online social networking (facebook, twitter) and it gives me less to come back to the computer for. However, because am still on here for emails and such - I have switched my priorities to writing on my poetry blog and I started a free online class for the betterment of myself (my soul) that will benefit others as well. It's nice to do these things because I feel more fulfilled when I am done writing or learning. I then really want to get off the computer so that I can get out and experience something more to write about or put my new lessons I've learned to practice.

It's a sun shiny summer day here in Chicago...break time! :)
l am still trying to get over my chocolate addiction let alone the computer. Honestly, l only ever really look up your blog, twitter ,emails and real estate.oh,also my husbands account.Don't know much about computers but l do know how to transfer the goods from hubbys account to mine.hehe.It is all legal people, all legal.A GIRL HAS TO SHOP.Seriously, very good point. l know if l don't get out for a walk in the fresh air l start to get grumpy and moody. Fresh air and catching up with friends and having a laugh is good for the mind, body and soul. l am 34 and as kids we always played outside with the local kids , went to the movies or rollerskating. l do remember the commodore 64 computers but that was nothing like technology today. l am always encouraging my kids to play outside and thankfully they are very sporty and love nothing more than playing in the park.Delivery man is here ,gotta go.Hugs and kisses
Thanks for the reminder Lisa to get my butt off this darn chair & away from the computer to enjoy the fresh air & my family & friends in person, etc. It's so nice to have both worlds & know I will always have you & my other cyber friends close by to keep in touch with! :) xoxoxox
Hey there Lisa,
While you are a workaholic, I am a leisurholic...LOL It is not that I dislike work at all, it is that I like being home better...:). Seriously, we all do need a break and yes even you Lisa :). I can hardly give advice because for me it is not just work but it is creating. When I am creating digital art or doing web design layouts or coding, I literally get lost. I remember building my Dad's memorial website for months and months, day and night. It was like I was bringing him back to life through my creating everything from scratch. I had a concept in my head and I needed to express it as it was in my head. I realize now that it was necessary, as it was my own way of dealing and celebrating his life. Way better than therapy. :)
So for you, your work with Spirit is sacred, creative, and special. Although there is still a lot of work involved as it is still a business, you truly love what you are doing. That is so key.
I have come to realize that not everyone can just kick back and relax. For me, that works for a short time and then I am off again. Forget about you, I don't think I can keep up...LOL. The travel alone would kill me off. As I hit my mid-forties, I look to kick back a little more than before... I hate to think that I am aging and would rather view it as mellowing :).
I really try to stay away from my computer, but I miss her after being away for so long. My computer is my mistress... tee, hee! You know it is bad when you roll over in bed onto a gadget like Ms. iTouch or Ms. Crackberry. I hope you are laughing at my foolishness. Too funny!
Love~n~Light to you,
DreamSpirit
As much as we love our "internet life" it is wonderful to also take a break and enjoy the world around you, for sure !!!
I do like to read your blog's though Lisa and have only just recently not been reading EVERY one !!! LOLOL
Have a great weekend !!! Love to you all xoxo
LOL..Lisa..signals are saying that my recent post about my catching up on your site and your ENTIRE blog over the weekend may have influenced your thoughts.
It's true I spend time after work online when I'm not working...I guess I've always been shy in person, so nightclubs aren't my thing...and, when money is tight and when gas prices are what they are, communicating online is a great way to interact with the world instead of just watching tv all the time. But the rain has stopped after an evening shower and I hear the crickets outside..I think it's time for a walk. Have a great one!
I hope you're this way soon..perhaps I can see you at your Tampa visit!
Hugs n Blessings,
JC
I used to find it really hard not to check my email. Well, when business is busy you have to check to see what's next. But over the last few months since business was slow (l it picked up enough this month just in time to save me) sometimes I just get so burned out that I literally can't go on the computer for a day or over a holiday weekend for three days.
Now, that doesn't mean I shut my phone off or stop texting. It just means that sometimes it is equally as compelling not to check my email. Email burnout. Most people get there at some point. Maybe it follows burn out altogether,
My brain's a bit slow tonight, so I'm a little low on creativity... but *thumbs up* ^_^

Hi Lisa,
Hope you are well! I turn on the computer, sit down for awhile, then at various intervals get up and go do something like yard work, or house work, then pop back to the computer for a quick peek, or comment, then off again! I do often miss people who want to chat, though, who think I am sitting there ignoring them (when I am off working), and then they get upset and sign off chat; leaving me with a not-so-nice comment (sometimes!)
I find myself wanting to see every response to my comments, so I keep an eye on the counters and jump when they change! It CAN tie you down if you let it! Anyway,it is
a very sensible idea to remind people to get their butts off of the chair and get some air and exercise!! Great PSA! Thank you!
Have a great remainder of your trip and come home soon!
Love and hugs,
Cheryl
Well with having a problem with my home emails this morning, I certainly need to take heed of this blog! Will keep it uppermost in my mind until they are fixed!
Thanks and Love
Lana
I take the challenge! After work today - no emails or internett before Monday!! :D
Forgot to tell you, only 2 days ago l kept getting in my head Rach, cool it a bit on the computer, l do not tell a lie. Now you have put it out there as well. When spirit tries to get the message across there is no stopping them. l love it. hugs and kisses Rach
I think that is why the site has been sort of quiet lately....people are going outside and doing summer things. It is good. I know my time on the computer has been very limited of late and I like it. There is a world out there with real live people....I agree with you, Lisa. We need to connect with each other one on one and in person, not through the computer. I will still check my email this weekend, but I have limited my computer time on my own this summer and I am enjoying it. Thanks for being right on the money again today, Lisa.
....peace....deb t/illinois
Great blog! Def a sign for me to get my butt off the couch and off the computer...
Here goes... I'm going to try and cut my use down over the weeked -- or maybe out all together. :)

Hi my love, I know this is a little late in getting to you but last night afer getting home from work I had so much to do, I never had the chance to blog. So here I am! How right you are my dear there is so much outside of the computer! We really need to take a break from it.
I know my time on the computer is very minimal-I come here and then do my email and check on my bank account to balance my checkbook Nothing else. So my dear friend if you promise not to blog over the weekend i will take this challenge , I will stay off of it for the weekend. But you have to let us know. This will be a time away from cyberspace and it will become a time to reconnect with my friends and family.
So my love, do enjoy your time spent with your friends and especially with Kev.. You two are so lucky to have each other!!! See you in Vegas!
Love ya lots,
Mary
