A walk in the park on a rainy day!
Monday, July 13, 2009 at 03:01PM It's been such a perfect trip, that it's bittersweet that it's coming to an end. Seeing friends and being around people we love has been very very special, but also having time alone without any interuptions has also been amazing. It's what a break is all about. However I am ready and raring to go and get back into it.
Even though I haven't actually had a break, as I have been working throughout, and I hadn't written half of what I had planned to write for my book, it doesn't matter because it was lovely to do what we did on our break.
Sad to leave people but also its great to head back home and start work again and start up the new opportunities that are developing.
Sometimes we need a break and a rest from the every day life. Even if it's a walk in the park on a rainy day. Its a refreshing change, and can make you feel relaxed and energized. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's taking you away from your 'normal' routine and allow you to play around with it.
I have a big week ahead and there is excitment and apprehension but also I know there will be laughter and fun ahead and its going to be great. We are sitting in the editing bay this week with the editors so that we can see what has been going with the shows that we recorded earlier this year. all good stuff.
So taking a break from life as we know it can do many things. It can help you relax, take a break but also look at problems in a different light almost like meditation can.
Try to remember that as we move through life, shimmy things up a little and take that walk in the park on a rainy day and dance in the puddles... you might just remember what it's like to be a kids again!
hugs and love to everyone!
Lisa xx

You're writing another book?!?!! Yippy Skippy! :D :D :D Hugs xoxoxoxo
Some puddles! You've had to trade your Wellies for chest-waders a few times lately. Spirit teaches what to do, so well, when the tide is high. In the end, the torrents, its all about that walk in the park, trusting enough to go barefoot! All lovely trees & flowers to you, sweet girl!
Need to ask you about some of that film, that may end up on the cutting room floor. It would be a treasured, private memento for a certain birthday girl.
Glad you have had some 'one on one', that business often prevents. Nice to have time rekindling with kindred spirits, too! Laughing, though, as you have been home all this time, but now are feeling California to be more like 'going home.'
Welcome home, with open arms! A & L
All sounds good to me !!!
I just said yesterday that I need to stop and smell the roses ... there are some 'little' things that have to be done...that get pushed aside when you are so wrapped up in something bigger...
Love to you all and I am glad you have had a wonderful 'break' , with family and friends and new things !!! xoxo
It sure is the truth, Lisa!! xoxo
Looks like the rain is in the past ;-)...you will be arriving to Southern CA for days of sunny skies and the 90's.
Lucy and Max will be ever so thrilled...there is nothing quite like coming home to your beloved dogs!!
Love and a warm hug on your travels!
xoxo

its always nice to be reminded by someone to relax, take a breath and look around ..... all of us are oh so busy and it really does do you the world of good to take the time to enjoy the little things.Thanx for the reminder girl, so looking forward to seeing you again in Mwelbourne in September, cant wait. Have a great day love jen xoxo
Hi Lisa,
Our rain has dissipated for a few days here in Western Australia and skies are clear so a walk in the park this morning will be crunchy as lawns are white with frost. It will be a VERY fast walk to clear the mind this beautiful morning, but, nevertheless, invigorating. Don't think I will go barefoot as Quirky Who suggests!!!!!
It's so nice....as you put it Lisa....being like a kid again! Thanks for the comforting reminder. When I'm swimming in the pool I love to daydream & just forget my grief & troubles...yes you must relax & take time for yourself. Glad you have been having a wonderful relaxing vacation. xoxoxox
Interesting blog!!! : ) Much Love <3 <3 <3
Thanks Lisa thats lovely. I am glad you had a break, times alone and with friends and famiiy. Sending you all my love for the times ahead and I will definitely jump into a puddle on a rainy day if I remember to. :)
Dear Lisa,
I am so glad that you had a break. They always seem too short but I know as you do that we are thankful for the time away from the norm. It gives us a different perspective on our everyday routine. You are always so busy whether it be that you are on holiday or not, you are always working....I do hope you did have some restful time!
WE all look forward to your safe return to sunny Southern Calif.....WE have missed you!
On another note....bring back some refreshing rain for us here...we could use it here!!! LOL!!
Take care and be be safe!
Love,
Keith
Thanks for reminding me I am so overdue for a holiday, a break is just what I need!!!!
Dreaming is nice though :)
Enjoy the rest of your break!

Hi Lisa,
You are SO right about taking time to smell the flowers once in a while. I think the message which really stands out here is to be CONSCIOUS about reading the signs that we need a break (and to act on it). Also to be conscious about what the break/rest does for our soul (and our health).
Life is so, so busy these days, that we often take many things for granted. I know myself that I have to stop thinking along the lines of "after I get these things done, I'll then take a break (and do something for ME)". And, although it's nice to do things for others, sometimes we also have to say "No" when its at the expense of our own self. I've always been a bit of a people pleaser, but I'm now learning to start considering my needs for a change, before I burn out.
Great blog Lisa, helps to keep us conscious about our lives,
Cheers,
Deb R. :)
Hugs Lisa
I have danced in the rain to many times here in Belgium.
You may take it home for me ;-).
Have a happy sunshiny day

Lisa, why I have tears in my eyes reading your blog I don;t know. Perhaps I wish I could take that walk in the park or in the rain and just to take a breath away from everyday life and dramas..
Much love to all and happy rainy days walking in the park.
Thanks Lisa....x

Hi my love,
You are so right! A vacation? What is that? When I have two days off from work I consider that a vacation!! I do know what you mean though. Just to let your hair down, so to speak, and be what you want to be. To be that little kid again-to walk in the rain or go splashing in a muddle of water! To forget about everyday things and just be who you want to be for however long you need to be.
I am so glad that you were able to take this time to relax and be with friends, and I wish you and the boys a safe trip home. Bless you my love!
Love ya lots, xoxox to the boys and Lucy and Max

Hi Lisa,
So Glad you had a great rest! You are so right!!! As adults, we feel we need permission to play alittle.Whilst that is a childs natural state. Play time clears the mind, opens the imagination and improves the temperment.
I Like to take out the ol' crayons and color mandala's. I know...Silly, right? But sometimes,"silly" is exactly what we need to be!
GO PLAY!!!
Love to All,
Kim xxx
Being someone who is easily bored.....I try to "shimmy it up" every day...be it throwing rocks into the stream, jump roping with my daughter, or playing tag with the kids....it helps to keep me happy. We all need some play time.
Hope you & the family have a safe trip home ~ PJ :)
There is a saying i love that says,"Life is not a_out waiting for the storm to pass,It's learning to dance in the rain" Have to go get a key_oard ....... my _ isn't working...ha Have a great day Lisa...Love,Chick

Without sounding corny, l believe that when we connect with our higher self life seems a little less complicated and we see the world through the eyes of a child once again. You start to notice how perfect the flowers are and the beautiful colours that surround us eveyday. It is important to put yourself in the centre of the circle,it is important to spend time with close friends, people who make you happy and it is so,so,important to have some alone time where you can just chill out and be you. Lastly, l only lasted one day Lisa, one day. l am addicted to the computer BUT l only spend 30-40 mins a day so that's not to bad. Hugs and Kisses Rachxoxo
Hello Lisa, I'm glad you had a good time with your family and friends. It is true that going on holidays sometimes makes wonder about things and sometimes for me it's very close to meditation.
I'm going to Barcelona on friday with a friend so I'm all excited ! I'm eager to see new landscapes, new architectures and other people and the sea ! ;-) I'm still on my diet though so it's going to be hard with the churros... ;-)
Lots of love to you and your family ;-)
Lise
Thank you Lisa for another inspiring post!
This makes me wanna share one of my favorite sayings: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow's a mystery and today is a gift - that's why it's called present"
I'm about to finish your book Life among the dead and it's been GREAT to read it and get to know you and your background a bit more Lisa - what a trip you've had and are having :) 6st of Sept I get to see you IRL and hopefully gets to say Hello after the show too!
Take care, xx
