Remember where you came from!
Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 08:45PM Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes. I decided not to blog last night and I am doing it tonight.
Being with Janey is just the best thing ever. We have sat and laughed so much, especially tonight. It's been amazing. She has done so much for me over the last day and a half. She took me to the statue of liberty, bought lunch, took me to the spa and also bought over presents for me... it was so lovely to be treated.
Our time in NYC has been special and I feel we are only just getting into our groove and she is heading home tomorrow and I am heading on to CT for a meeting, and it's all going to be over too soon :( however I will be seeing her again very soon :)
I love being in NYC, I find the energy sometimes too much, however if I switch off I am ok. I don't pick up too much. If I am open... then OMG it's crazy, I get all sorts of info coming in.
Billy Elliot was Phenomenal!!! I wasn't sure if Janey would like it but she was amazed. Being at the statue of liberty was moving and after hearing the stories of some of the immigrants to came into the country, I was moved, and the statue does represent peace and freedom to me. I am so blessed to have been part of that humbling experience, even though we walked nearly 2 miles, to get to the boat. I think swimming would have been easier, especially on Janey's blistered feet!
Today the spa was amazing! It wasn't anything prestigious, very simple and quaint and it just goes to show that you dont have to pay through the nose to have excellent service and amazing treatments. However tonights experience was out of this world.
Here Janey and I were sitting in Gordon Ramseys Restaurant. We were reminising back to when both she and I couldn't afford food to put on the table, and she would turn up with food from her freezer and then on payday for me I would return it all. We lived hand to mouth. A luxury for us was to share a curry and a bottle of wine on a Friday night at her place, and we pushed the boat out if we had dessert. Our boys would always be well fed but it didn't matter to us.
When the waiter came over and asked me to taste the wine, it took me straight back to those times. I thought how lucky we were to be here enjoying this moment together. Whilst I love Kev dearly, spending tonight in Gordon Ramseys Restaurant with Janey was better than anything and I didn't want to spend it with anyone else.
It just took both of us back to how far we have come, but we both looked at the prices first before the food, even though I told her not too but it's how we are programmed. I had a moment of feeling like I didn't belong there like people were judging me. But it's my own insecurities.
As they say you can take the girl out of Redditch (my home town) but you can't take Redditch out of the girl. And I am proud of my humble beginnings because it makes me appreciate what I have in life so much more, because everything can be taken away from me in a blink of an eye!
We have to look at how far you have come in life, and it makes you appreciate what you have now, and what you have achieved and the lessons that you learnt in your life. Everyones life isn't easy, but what is hard for one, could be easy for another it's all relative. You may be going through a hard time and life could have been rosy before, but there is a reason for this change, and you have to appreciate what you have and make the best of a situation.
Always remember to grow and learn and as you are learning have fun, even if it's a laugh at something on TV. Don't critizise too fast, laugh at life and have fun... it's the most inportant thing.
Ok Dad's have a lot of fun tomorrow also. It's your day so make the most of it! Happy Fathers Day!
With love and hugs
Lisa xx

Thank you Lisa for a great blog as usual. Glad your birthday was awesome. And that you had such a special time with Janey! I know how hard you had it in the early years, and I find it so great that you are so humble, because a lot of people wouldn't be. Your time in New York sounded amazing! Glad you had such a great time. I hope Kev has an awesome Father's Day! he is such a great dad to Charlie. Bless him! Much love and hugs, Natalie/freespirit
Hey Lisa xxoxo I almost felt as if I was there with you and Janey, enjoying the laughter, the wine, the food, and oh yes, the spa.. I could envision the two of you reminising and just having the most wonderful time. This will be yet another cherished memory for both of you to hold close to your hearts. Sounds like your time with Janey was really special and it was a great way to spend your birthday. You will always have such great memories of this special time with a special friend. New York has such a vibrance to it that you can't help but feel it! Hope the rest of your time East is as fruitful for you. Enjoy the last few hours with your friend, although it's good to know you will see each other again soon.
You really deserve taking this time for you and we are all so thrilled that you share so much with us. Hope your hubby, Kevin, didn't miss you too much and that he and Charlie will have a really special Father's Day together. How wonderful that they are so close. You are truly blessed with such a caring man and son in your life.
Lots of love and best wishes. I'm dying to know when I'll see you again soon. I was thrilled with your message in "Appearances." Can't wait!
Many blessings,
Hugs, Anna
^_^ NYC is a dream of mine, and I live 2 states away, so what's MY excuse? I do want to see the Little Mermaid. heheh!
I am pleased you had a wonderful Birthday! Happy belated Birthday. (everyday is a birthday in my book) I'm jealous of the spa day and Lady Liberty tour. I thought they closed it to the public-- good to hear you can go see it again. :D
I'm sure some of my old family may have been there, pipping up for their behalf. Hope they weren't too gabby. ^_~
Happy Father's day to your hubby.
I really enjoy reading your wisdom and although it's common sense, we just never seem to follow through with the simple things in life. I try my best not to stress about others to much and it works for a little while until something or someone crops up and sets me back to square one. If I could just sort this out from feeling this way, I think I'll be on the road to a better life. Once again though Lisa, I really enjoy reading what you have to say. It makes me realise that we are in control of our own life's and like you said, you have to take control of the situation. Big hugzz and look forward to reading more of what you have to say. xx
LISA!! Touching on the technology blog:
I find tech. hurtful.
Doesn't apply to you because your a public figure Tech. removes the mystery of people ( Twitter/fb ). Knowing all the behind the scenes stuff about friends or lovers kills the soul of it in subtle ways.
THAT mystery is the MAGIC. It makes your relationships special. Privacy is important.
It does make things better too, I just never hear about the negative affects.
I realise that rude is rude... but it makes it easier. Having someone not respond to my phone calls and only use email or text sends a very loud message to me about my importance. Flirting, even unconciously, now has opportunity all the time with mobile phones and non-voice communication. That opens up all kinds of things to new ppl.
If one wants Honesty, Simpicity and Personal connection... I'm not sure how to integrate that. I know how you love tech. and I mean no harm...just my observations.
BTW....Happy Birthday!!!! Your such a sweet lady!! You help me have faith. Love to you!!
Even from Riditch... your also from Heaven!!
Hi lisa.. :)
I"m happy you caught up with Janey and you had a good time. You and Janey sound like you have such great fun, its lovely to hear about your connection as friends. True friends are priceless aren't they.. glad you felt the magic of it on your birthday too.
I'm glad that you went from living week to week to being in gordon ramsay's restaurant and dining out. I think that is the coolest, it makes me smile. I don't know I know this sounds really silly and it is haha. Your like the lovely person in a movie that you cheer on when your watching good things happen to them after shite. haha.
Your just a good person lisa and down to earth.. god bless you xxx
Thanks for sharing .. love your face. Mwah!
Hi Lisa,

Hey, Duanette!!
l am so glad u had a terrific time with your best gal pal Janey. My best friend has moved two states away and l miss her. We talk but it is not the same as having a nice lunch together or ringing her up and asking if u can stay because your other half is giving u the s...s and then having one or two bottles of wine and having a good laugh and dancing around the lounge room. l don't know what is up with me lately,l am usually very positive and outgoing. l did my first house clearing 4 days ago and all went well but l just feel extra sensitive to everything and everyone and it has made me teary and sad. l do protection day and night for me and my family, l don't know what is going on. Has this happened to you. l know l will get through it but l don't like feeling so out of balance. HUgs and Kisses Rachxxx

Hi Lisa,
Glad to hear you are having a wonderful weekend with Janey. Don't forget to add some photos for us! I'd love to go to NY one day. Have you been to Ground Zero? If you have, what vibes did you pick up there? I imagine it would be an incredibly soulful feeling to stand there now.
And what's this about wondering if you are worthy, girl! You have worked so hard to get where you are now, so don't ever doubt yourself and hold your head up high. :)
Happy Father's Day to Kev (ours is not until September),
Cheers! Enjoy the relax and rewind!

Lisa, I am so delighted you're having such a great birthday with your true friend. Friendship is so important. As usual all you say is true and interesting ;-) we all have to know who we are and what we have been through to enjoy our present.
Today, in France, it is "Music Day", so here in Paris, it's a party everywhere, that's just great ! There are groups of music everywhere and I will dance salsa outside with my group !
Have fun and I send you musical waves ;-))
Lots of love,
Lise
Hi Lisa,
What a really lovely, post. We all need to be reminded, to take it all with a grain of salt. Do good things and enjoy! Thank you! I hope Janey and you weren't bothered too much by the rain. Here in western NY. It has been pouring,non-stop. I was beginning to wonder if I should start building an ark. HAHA. It sounds as if you girls had a teriffic time. Any Solstice rituals or party? I am not Pagan or Wiccan myself, but I like to give a nod to the festivals of the seasons. It reinforces the idea that we are connected to the Earth and everything in it. That we as much a part of the miracle of nature as the dawn. Also a good time to give thanks for all the abundance we have. And best of all , another reason to throw a party! LOL. Have a beautiful Day! See you Wednesday!
Love and Light
So happy for you, my dear friend. What a beautiful day! And how wonderful that you were able to stop, and take note of how far you have come in really a very short span of time. And that Janey is with you here, now too. You both made it! I'll bet that sometime back in the difficult times, over curry and wine, you each knew that one day in the not so distant future, it would be better. But... Gordon Ramsey's restaurant! That sexy bad boy? Girl, you got it going !
Hey there Lisa,
I am so happy you and Janey had a wonderful time in NYC celebrating your birthday. Janey sounds like such a great person and your connection is amazing. Although I am currently not on twitter, I have been keeping up with you here. OMG...Times Square is a nightmare on the weekends and I can't believe you were there in the mix of it. No matter how many times I go there, I hate it due to the crowds but I do understand its appeal. Actually I work only 20 blocks away near the Time Warner building where you did your first book signing. It is more residential there and I can deal with it on a daily basis. The City is crazy but it is where I make my $$. LOL
Love the Statue of Liberty and can see it when I ride my bike along the shore line path near my house. I am glad you got to see it. However, there is lots of walking as you discovered...LOL.
So glad you had a fab time in NYC! Come back soon and do a show or two or three... I really miss your shows. It has been a challenge getting to one this time around. :(
Enjoy the rest of your weekend in spite of the rain here. It's starting to feel like London here in NY...LOL.
Lot of Hugs,
DS
thanks for sharing your special day with us, Lisa....someday, my ship will come in and I won't look at prices, LOL. I'm glad you and Janey had this special time together. You so deserve it. Happy, happy birthday, .....peace, deb t/illinois
Sounds like you and Janey had a wonderful weekend together and how special it must have been to spend your birthday with your bestest friend. Ones family is very important and not to be taken for granted, but friendships are very precious....and very important to hold near and dear to ones heart.
One day I hope to make it to NYC...it has always been a dream of mine to see a musicial on Broadway. I still keep hoping....and dreaming.
Much love,
Cindy / cynthlynn
