Spirituality and Religion

As many of you know, I change my hair like I change my clothes, it's always different. Today was the day to change it up a little and have some fun.

I was having it colored and it's always a fun project. My hairdresser is Karen, an English woman who is a born again Christian. Many people think it's weird that I am having my hair done by someone who has different spiritual views to me, but actually I don't.

Toady we had so much time to chat, as she didn't have any clients in after me, so it gave us time to talk, and biy did we talk. She was telling me that she 'hears' god and she is guided to help others and she 'feels' other emotions and wants to help them heal.

It was incredible. We were both open and i realize that we both have gifts, she has an extra... she's amazing with hair... but we can both come at it from one place... our heart. Our intentions are exactly the same we love people and want to help.

She is just as down to earth as I am (of course) and will openly say that some of what is said in the bible is to be questioned and that the church is wanting control and is not open to change. Yet she is full of love, and praise and god.

My thoughts are, just because you are religious it doesn't mean that you are spiritual. Spirituality comes from the heart and the goodness to help others.

To me it was an eye opener. It made me question my beliefs and what I hear and see... and maybe I do hear 'god' yet I consider the voice to be Spirit. Ultimately they are the same thing. It is Information that is coming from it's highest and purest form. Very interesting.

I was actually asking the angels today on the way to the salon, to allow me to talk in depth with Karen and they answered my prayers. I am so blessed to have had this time with her today, as it's just renewed my own belief and that is... spirituality and religion can be harmonious, however its up to the individual to accept this.

Interesting thoughts. Thanks Karen for a beautiful chat!

Tomorrow is the stat of the psychic weekend... my printer is hot with handouts... my office is full of stuff, it's chaotic, but it will soon be organized chaos!

Lots of love and have a great day!

Hello Lovely Lisa,
We must see a photo of your new hair color! please ;-)
So nice to hear of your long talk and loving one at that.. of religion & spirituality. Both are all about LOVE. Helping, doing unto others and truth. After all I have been through; Our Heavenly Father and all the Angels, Guides, Protectors have seen me safely through. They are pure Divine Light unto all of us. Everyone as everything else... have 'choices'.
Have a super night sleep! Hugs to you, Sir Charlie and Kev.
With love

Hi Lisa..Good post as always..It's interesting isn't it? People's beliefs? I guess as long as we have good intentions and are pure of heart, caring, open to this world, it doesn't matter what religion you follow? It only matters what's inside your heart..And how you treat people? ...How's the hair now?? lol Love Stace XXX

(((((((((Lisa))))))) Been awhile since I responded to one of your blogs, so busy just trying to keep up with member boards, lol
Sounds like a very interesting talk between u and Karin and alot was learned from one another. It is nice to be able to sit down with someone and talk about your beliefs as well as differences. The bottom line is how we all (well, most of us, lol) want to help others and that is one of the most important things.
Lisaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you changed your hair AGAIN and JUST as I was gonna go get mine done exactly like yours for the ILL shows!!!! Wanted to surprise you, lol
Good thing I hadn't aleady done it since you changed yours again now...I agree you need to post a pic.
Uhm, how bout adding Lisa wigs to your store here??? Bet they would be a top seller, hehehe
Can't wait to see u again in Rockford AND Peoria! The anticipation is really building up and I am ready to burst, lol
Huggles to you and yours xoxoxoxoxx

How do l put this, l believe that there are angels, guides and spirit who watch over us,guide us and love us. l feel very protected and never alone and for that l am thankful. l believe that there is a higher energy that some may refer to as their God. When it all comes down to it we are all looking for something, love, peace, faith . In the end it's who we are as people and how we chose to live our lives that is important regardless of what religion or beliefs we may hold. Be happy, love yourself ,
love your life and you can't lose.

Hi Lisa,

I don't believe in God either, I do believe in good people and all I want is to do good, but in order to do so you have to believe in YOURSELF, and I do, and that is wonderful. 'cause at the end of the day we ourselves create our world, and we have to believe we can.

Lisa
I want to thank you for coming into my life this year. I have lost four siblings and my mother in the last five years and with your help I am comforted to know they are still with me. The hardest loss was my youngest brother, sam. An incredible musician that was pure love to be around. Thank you for your gift, your hair and your vibrant love that radiates into your work.

Hi Lisa,
It is beautiful to connect with people who have different views, and if the views find a place in your heart, you can perhaps have them meld with your own. If they don't seem to feel right, it is fine just to allow others to have their own beliefs and still be friends with that person. When I was a born again Christian, I was taught that no one else was a true Christain, and that only those who were "born again" would escape the wrath of Hell. We took tracts about people going to Hell from door, to door. We were very nice people, but our main agenda was to talk people into our way. I have since expanded my mind and don't believe that only a select few who accept Christ as their Savior are going to be saved from torments in the afterlife (if there are indeed any at all!) I feel that those who think only certain people are special is an arrogant way to believe and extremely closed minded. I would never assume that my way of thinking was any better than anyone elses. I think that we can all find peace of mind and a beautiful afterlife no matter our religion. Countless wars and horrible deaths have been committed in the name of religion; because of religious intolerance. I would never again be caught up in any religion that believes it is "the one" and better than any other, and that feels that whomever doesn't follow their way, goes to Hell. I have become enlightened and so much more compassionate now. I consider myself Pantheistic, and have a deep respect and regard for all faiths, and philosophies that follow a path of true love and respect for others no matter their own beliefs.
Have a lovely Friday and a great weekend!
Hugs and love,
Cheryl

I too came from a religion that believed they were the only ones that would be saved. I now do not judge ones beliefs. But the trouble is I don't really know what my beliefs are anymore. I believe in something, but I don't know what it is yet. I consider myself spiritual but I don't think I believe in God. I believe there is an afterlife but how can I if I don't believe in God. It's all very confusing.

I've just watched a video on You Tube that links with this subject. The person had been through a near death experience and their main message was that "love is the best religion". I agree totally. It's simple really, all you need is love.

Good post (as always!) :o)

What is spirituality really but our relationship with God, the Divine, the Earth, our lives, ourselves, and others. ETC! *smile* It's our "relationship" and what we do with it...how we express and reflect it.

I have a dear friend who does not believe in any kind of God...but she treasurers the Earth and has a divine relationship with plants, trees, Nature..etc. She creates divine beauty in her yard...& in her heart and shares it with the rest of the world. I told her this was a part of her spirituality...she just smiled.

Have a grand time this weekend...you are in my thoughts.

Much Success!
Andrea

Hi my love, Thanks again for an excellent blog. Your Karen sounds like a lovely woman and your time together was suppose to be. Religion is one of those topics that I really don't care to talk about, but in your case, anything goes. When growing up I use to think of myself as religious-confession every week, mass every Sunday, catholic grade and high schooland fromthere into the convent to be a nun. Oh, I had it all! Or soI thought. After 4 yrs in the convent I returned to the real world and what an eye opening it was for me. I no longer believed in the church as it was back in the 70's I still believed in a God. I went from being religious to being spiritual. After finding myself after many years of soulsearching and becoming who I am today I am so much happier. My beliefs have expanded . I now believe in the afterlife, angels, guides, God,Jesus, Mary.etc. That life is all one and the same-past, present and future. I believe that I am her e for a purpose, and whatever that might be, as long as Iam open to it and I am being true to myself, then hat is was matter. I think all of this has been there but I just needed toget in touch with it. As long as I have the faith anf believew in myself hen allis well. LOVE is what it is all about. I love who I am and what I am about despite the fact that there are days.... I love to give all I can to otehrs and helpin any way. That is why I am a nurse of over 26 years and still enjoy what I am doing despite my own disability.. I have not given up nor have I had any real negative feelings about my Parkinsons. I trust in the One that is , and that I will be okay in this relmn of life. I believe in me. And yes,I really believe in you my dear friend Lisa. Without you I really don't know where I would be at this point in my life. Do continue to do what you do best and never ever falter my love. You are the best andI love you for who and what you are.
Love always,
Mary

Some of you who come to this site may be aware of Edgar Cayce. He was less a medium than a mystic and healer, and died in 1945. He was a devout Christian, and in the beginning it was hard for him to reconcile what he believed with what he had experienced. A good part of his life's work was in coming to terms with this and sharing his revelations. Christ continued to be central to his beliefs and thinking, but Cayce became flexible to expanding his notions about religion. There are numerous books about Cayce, and his family continues his work as Association for Research and Enlightenment ( ARE). They house the written transcriptions of his readings and continue to publish books and hold seminars and classes about Cayce and the subjects that were dear to him. A book that would be a good introductory read is "The Sleeping Prophet". I have always found the literature about Cayce to be a gentle and fascinating experience.

I agree!!! And if you look at Chaucer's literature there's alot of symbolic things in his works, which I agree with. And with all religions............there not perfect just like we're not perfect!!! In early early early times, alot of the truth was burned and many leaders just wanted to have power and they got power by using fear. This is so sad to me, but I believe the truth comes out whether you come to believe in it yourself or if you need evidence I say look within yourself. And hard evidence maybe be buried, but I believe we're coming more open to what the true really is. Not your going to believe what you believe, and that's okay. All that's matters is your journey and to overcome what you need to overcome and learn from it and most definitely helping others along the way. Just like Jesus, Mohammad, and all the other highly gifted leaders, who didn't have power(though others may disagree with me). Or should I say they used their power of love. And they were teachers, healers, and counselors that made God "real."

I messed up on one of the lines. I meant your going to believe what your going to believe, and that's okay.

Hey there Lisa,

I have been MIA @ a health spa with very limited Internet access...total withdrawal. I was barely able to twitter...LOL. It was a very good lesson. I tend to avoid socializing outside of work and can be a bit reclusive at times. So in a way you are forced to be social and I am so thankful for it.

I love your blog today. Sometimes I hesitate to use 'God' in any of my spiritual conversations with others because somehow there is a negative association. The way I see it is who am I to say there is or isn't a God. What I truly don't understand is why people get so pissed off at my using the word God or God Energy to describe something in life. There are times I get accused of being religious when I am truly not and have not even read the bible. So it is nice to hear that you can engage in a good conversation with a religious person and vice verse. We may all take different roads but in the end they all converge into one beautiful path of light. Whether one believes this is God or not does not really matter in my humble opinion. What matters is what you learn on your path.

The 'Psychic Weekend' sounds amazing and I hope one day you bring over to the East Coast. I bet it would be really successful in NYC...hint, hint... :) Let us know how it goes. I would love to hear about it.

Lots of hugs,
DreamSpirit

Hi Lisa I write this letter about a book I read and maybe you know the author. the author is Marie-Noëlle Bermond and had worked as a professor in the Institute of World Healing Techcnologies for New York. I say this because it grants to you and this book that I read in particular called Multidimensional Being
The Awakening The Chakras By excerpt from the book: The seven bodies or different plans: It is now commonly accepted that everything can be analyzed in terms of energy, vibration frequency. We acknowledge that currently there is a universal energy field and a Human Energy Field, electromagnetic or surrounding the physical body. The human being is made up of different fields, which we shall call the body, and he actually posėdis seven bodies, which intersect and are distinct in that they vibrate at different frequencies. Each of these bodies is in fact a émantique who is directly in higher frequency, and not a different nature. Following the text on another day

Hi Lisa,...Spirituality is a polarization of the mind in two ways, in both ways it makes you sense that you are right in what you do and in what you believe. Spirituality is a time capsule. In time Reality opens the mind.

Thank you for your blog. Wouldn't it be a beautiful thing if we would all be open and loving to each other regardless of individual beliefs? In most cases, all loving people believe pretty much the same thing, only we all use different words and titles. To be a Christian really means to follow the teachings of Jesus.... not the teachings of an organized religion. Jesus teaches love, compassion, humility and other great characteristics taught by most spiritual leaders. A few judgemental so called "Christians" have given people the wrong impression of what it really means to follow the teachings of Christ. Thanks again for your blog and have an amazing weekend! Wish I could be there. Theresa

Wow, beautiful story, Lisa. My hairdresser is a born again Christian as well, and we've had similar discussions. I agree it's the intention with which you approach helping others, and coming from the heart is the same no matter the other information that is cataloged in the person's brain. Have a great weekend giving your seminar! Wish I could come. Hoping for next time! Bonnie
