Self Belief

Well I have officially finished and completed, except for a story that I have to insert, the first Chapter of my new book. Yes I have many chapters that are part finished that need moulding and shaping but Chapter One is complete, and I am telling you, it's like a weight off my shoulders.

To me, writing a book as a daunting task, I know I have my first book which is Life Among the Dead, but I had a ghost writer (no pun intended) and this one, I am writing all by myself! Which was a scary thought and something that I felt initially overwhelmed by.

The book started to take shape, after so many people kept asking me, "So Lisa, what happens when we die" and so I decided that was going to be the topic of my book. Also watching my grandmother in her transition into the next life helped me and I hope it helps people come to terms with the fact that we all have to go and also to help people in the healing process.

As I have said before I am amazed at what I discovered in working through this but this is not only a discovery of information that had been hidden from me by spirit, but it was as self discovery of me.

This is for me about believing in myself and knowing that I CAN write this book and I AM an Author. Yes I may feel a little overwhelmed at times but I know I can keep my self from going under because I know I can do it. It's about self belief...

You can do things that you put your mind to. If you set it straight in your head and work out a plan you can do it. Of course you have to think about it first, but when you set your mind to it, it will work no matter how long it takes you.

There have been things that I have done that I never thought I would do, and I honestly thought, that I would have been 50- 51 when I accomplished them, but here I am in my 30's and I have done it... yes I surprised myself but I did it. And you can too.

So set yourself a realistic task something that you know that you CAN achieve but you you still find it a task, and go for it. Look ahead and think positive and know that you will succeed!

Much love

Lisa xx

Dearest Lisa,

Oh well, I suppose I may as well be first for a change... lol. I know that you are immensely capable of writing this book. You write beautifully and you have already written one successful book even if you did have a ghostwriter to help you.

Writing our family journal is also a little daunting for me. I have already written about 30 pages, but am stuck at the moment on the Anglo-Boer War section as the information I have at my disposal is written in Afrikaans (my dad would be shaking his head right now at my inability to translate accurately), and I want to depict the story accurately. Anyhow, by taking one step at a time, and making rough notes, I am getting there slowly. Then I need to go onto the section of our growing up as children... that is also going to be a challenge to put together, but as you say, we can all do something if we put our minds to it, and if we love what we are doing and write from the heart, I am sure that is a recipe for success.

Your first book is on its way in the mail to me... can't wait to read it. So you have a bit of time before I start nagging for the second one... lol. Your TV show is also back on our screens on Sunday nights (with John Edwards two slots after)... it is so wonderful to be able to watch you live again. This time I am recording them.

Love you lots,
Hugs and blessings,
Jeanette

Congrats on completion of the first chapter! I can imagine how daunting the task of writing a book is... It's stressful having just paperwork deadlines for me =P

You've got us waiting with baited breath! Your book is going to be fascinating, no doubt.

Great blog!.. and something I need to work on for sure... Thanks!

Your an amazing writer Lisa. Every blog that you write inspires many and that's what a good writer does. Their words can take people away, inspire people, teach people. l can't wait to read your next book. Your first book l read in 5.5 hrs. l sat in my lounge room until 1 in the morning and might l add ate ALOT of biscuits. It's so true when you say you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. When l look back on my life l realize just how far l have come through believing in myself. Every single one of us owes it to ourselves to shoot for the stars, go for our dreams and make them reality. You will never lose if you believe in yourself. Hugs Racca xoxox

Dear Lisa
You are a natural writer. Whatever you write seems to flow from your being, and with your lifestyle you have so much material. And because of the work you do, it all contains an inspiring philosophy. We never tire of hearing what you have to say.

Well that is indeed really important to trust ourself. Lately I found people at work trying to find the weak part of me and trying to take advantage of it but believe me, I am fighting and as I believe in myself they will not succeed. But it is always disappointing and sad to see people who fail humanly...
Thank you Lisa for this blog. I have almost finished your book and when I start reading it, I can't stop... ;-) You are a great writer and what you say is so interesting.
So, we are all waiting for the new one... ;-)

Have a great day Lisa,

Lise

Lisa, I'm writing heavily this month, so know the energy is good for it. And it's a process. Something I read recently really helped me - and you touched on it in your blog post. The marvelous Jackie Morris, writer and illustrator, wrote on her fB page once that she was carving out her writing - or words to that effect. It's like a sculpture. You put the words down to get the thoughts out of your head an on to the paper/computer, and then you can mold them,as you observe, into readable shape. And then stand back and read them afresh and decide where the gaps are, where the split infinitives are and whether they need correcting, and then... have your first readers have a go at it and tell you what they think.

I'm so proud of you! Enjoy the process.

That first chapter, even if it's "out of order," is the most difficult (in my opinion). So now you can start sailing on thru (well, it might not all flow super fast and easy, but it will get lots more fluid as you go).

Can't wait to read it.

((((((((((Lisa)))))))))) You are a true inspirationt to all of us and I think your 3rd book should be "You, too, CAN do it", lol I think it's all about remaining postive and believing in one's self tho I know (firsthand) how hard that can be at times.

Getting started is the hardest part but once u get going, there is no stopping and I do believe the words will come quite naturally to you and all your emotions and expressions will come thru.

Honestly, I don't know HOW you do all that you do....touring, being a Mom, Hayhouse, Twitter, FB, blogging here, writing books, etc yikessssssssss HOW do you do it all? Gimme some of your energy and stamina PLEASEEEEEEE

With Love
Lori

Hey there Lisa,

Bravo girl!!! That is quite an accomplishment. Don't worry about the grammar and all that old school crap and just let the pen be your 'ghost writer'. You can always revise it later. The important thing is to get the meat of it out on paper and tweak it later. No matter what you say, you are an author already. If you take your blogs and put them together, it is a book and you are the author. So many of your blogs help others and inspire them. I am definitely one of those people and believe me I don't do blogs. However, I was hooked on yours from day one without even knowing you very well. So rock on and the rest will follow!

Love n hugs,
DS

Dear Lisa,
You are so right- You have to believe in Yourself to move forward. I collect
Ruby Slipper things to remind me, as Glinda says "You've always had the Power"
-you just have to find it out for Yourself.

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for the inspiration! Your first book may have had a bit of help, but it really came across as you, and it shone with your warmth, love and sincerity! I am looking forward to your new book, because the topic is something that has been plaguing my mind a lot lately; almost to the point of needing some kind of therapy. I don't know why it has been such a weight on my mind so much recently, but it hurts like mad.
Take care of yourself and your lovely family; you deserve the best life has to give!
Happiest of Holidays!
Love,
Cheryl
